MARTINIQUE: The cotton production in Mozambique is estimated to increase by around 33 percent to 1,10,000 tons by the Mozambique cotton association (AAM), sources said here on July 14.

Sources also added that cotton fiber production is expected to touch 36,000 tons in 2006

However government of the country to meet the needs of the re-launched textile factories is exploring new avenues to boost cotton production.

Further government is in process to negotiate with a group of investors to reactive its textiles factories by the end of 2006; whereas some foreign investors are also interested in a smaller factory, Textafrica, located in Chimolo, in Manica province, which is inoperative for several years.

Textile factories as EMMA in Manica province and Texmoque in Nampula are at an advanced stage of negotiation.
